ETHEREAL EARTH

This 12 inch diameter Yellow Cedar sphere has been turned to a 3/32" thickness.  137 of the world's countries have been drawn to proper scale then hand painted and air brushed with acrylic paints and dyes.

The oceans have been pierced to represent the delicate nature of our world today.  Highlighting these, I have airbrushed the inside with iridescent paints so you can catch a glimmer of aquatic blue through the piercing.

The rotating Globe is mounted on a delicate cocobolo rosewood stand at the Earth's proper axis of 23-1/2 degrees.

To top it off, an opal from Australia has been set at the North Pole, representing the Polar Ice Cap.

This turning has over 100 hours from start to finish!
