NORTHERN BEAUTY

This vase has been pierced, then decorated with a pair of pyrographed ruffed grouse feathers, after turning from Alberta Silver Birch.  It was then finished with braided deer hide and original antique Native trading post beads from the 1800's. Both the Hudson Bay Reds and Russian Blues, as they were know, were used extensively as Native currency and an integral part of the development of the Canadian North.  I have added an authentic feather to the braiding for additional realism.
